School Chromebooks are filtered — even at home
According to Forsyth County Schools’ 1:1 Chromebook guidance, district Chromebooks use content filtering around the clock, at school and at home. That filtering is a major safety layer, but it is not a substitute for parenting conversations.
Qustodio for parents and guardians
FCS has partnered to offer Qustodio so parents can monitor usage, set screen-time limits, and add filtering controls. Signup is tied to the email on file with the school system; setup support is handled by Qustodio, not by CyberForsyth.
Parents can also explore the district Online Safety Hub for tips on cyberbullying prevention, internet safety, and digital citizenship.
What parents should still do
- Know your child’s main chat apps on personal phones (Chromebooks are only one device)
- Keep shared family computers updated and free of shady extensions
- Separate school work accounts from entertainment logins when possible
- Review browser extensions on any personal Chrome profile kids use
Summer and breaks
District guidance notes filtering can remain active on school devices during summer. Continue parent controls and routines when schedules loosen.
