How fake Amazon, UPS, and USPS delivery texts steal information from Forsyth County shoppers — and how to check real tracking safely.

“Your package could not be delivered” — pause
Online shopping is normal for Forsyth County households. Scammers exploit that with texts and emails about failed deliveries, unpaid customs fees, or “confirm your address.”
Red flags
- You are not expecting a package
- The link uses a weird shortener or misspelled brand domain
- They ask for a card “re-authorization” fee
- The message pressure you to act within minutes
Safer ways to check a real shipment
- Open the retailer or carrier app you already trust
- Check order history on the website you type yourself
- Use tracking numbers from the store confirmation email — not a random SMS
What scammers want
Payment details, login credentials, or remote access. Sometimes the page installs malware or steals saved passwords from a phishing form.
